Mia Sabel was granted a Finalist Award (Specialist Media) for the Craft&Design Selected Awards 2012.

“I am sure this must have been the hardest category to judge, simply because of the diverse range of materials and techniques that have been used.  It has been much harder than I imagined although it has been a real privilege to undertake the task.

Having read their statements and sifted through the information – everything from Facebook to photographs, I started to form an insight into how the six finalists approached their work, to understand their design philosophy, their ideas and their ambitions.  Although their disciplines were varied, the creative spark and design awareness was evident in all.

It quickly became apparent that without exception, their artwork was made to an excellent standard and each finalist merited an Award for some aspect of their work.
