Tussauds - Gloves
Tussauds - Gloves

SABEL Saddlery was again commissioned by the wardrobe team at Merlin Entertainments; this time to make two pairs of gloves for Katy Perry in Madame Tussaud's Vienna.
Working from photographs and using leather that the team at Merlin had supplied, Mia Sabel made accurate facsimiles of the originals.
This process involved not only the fabrication of the gloves but also the creation of their decorative cuffs. Painstaking work was required to replicate the frequency of frill required as well as the pattern and diameter of the holes "brogued" on the individual segments. In a series of slices, reminiscent of shortbread's own petticoat tails, the cuffs were perforated to create both the accuracy and delicacy of the originals.
Gloves that is, not biscuits.
