Patek Philippe Calatrava 6000R-001 in rose gold
Designed in close collaboration with our client, we developed watch straps for three timepieces from his collection. This is the first in this case study series – a bespoke, made-to-measure and fitted brogue strap for his Calatrava.
The special part of this project was developing a tapered brogueing tool to create the top layer of leather in dark stain oak bark, the burgundy bridle leather is revealed through the perforations. The strap was fitted to its existing rose gold deployment clasp.
“Putting the cuff on the Daytona is a really bold move, as most people wouldn’t think to do that. Same could be said about the Patek. Patek is probably the most traditional brand on the market and the brogue strap is funky and makes it relate to a different market of people.
A lot of people underestimate/don’t pay enough due to the impact of a strap on a watch. A strap can transform a watch into something entirely different than people are accustomed to. It allows you to personalize a watch and allows you to tweak the presentation/impact of a watch, in order to make it align with your personal aesthetic and style. For example, I wouldn’t have really been comfortable wearing the Patek on the alligator strap it came with, but the brogue does just the aforementioned for me, casualizing it and making a traditionally conservative piece funky.”
